Forgetting your keys today can help you with your future

When you couldn't remember where you put your keys or why you walked
into a room in the first place today, that is called the doorway
effect: where you walk through a doorway and it causes you to forget
what you were thinking about.

Which is infuriating most of the time, but what if we can use this to
our advantage?

You've already walked through the doorway of the new year, and here
you are, hopefully looking to the future, but if you are stuck looking
back at the past, that's not where God wants you to be.

The past is in the past, and in the Bible, in Isaiah 43, God says,
"I'm about to do something new. See, I've already begun. Do you not
see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create
rivers in a dry wasteland."

That wasteland that you've been suffering in for days, months, or
years. There's a path out of it.

Now, that doesn't mean you get magically transported out of it today,
but you have one of two options.

You can look back at the past and take a step back, or look toward
God's beautiful future that he's already doing for you, that new thing
he's doing, and say, God, I'm going to forget the past and remember
your promise of a better future.
